Curriculum Overview.
Communication & Learning
Language and communication are paramount in the development and learning for Deaf children. We want all our learners to develop their language skills and to be confident communicators. We focus on developing independence and nurturing our learners into developing a positive Deaf identity, self confidence and self esteem.
Our Curriculum offer
Our curriculum has been developed to best prepare our learners for life beyond our school and college. Our destination data helps inform our curriculum development, we review our curriculum offer annually to ensure it is fit for purpose and offers our learners the best possible opportunities to progress in their learning and follow their dreams.
We offer a range of accredited qualifications including Signature BSL, GCSE, Entry Level awards, Functional Skills and AQA Unit Awards. They are carefully matched to learners' ability, ultimately ensuring a curriculum offer that offers the right balance of access and challenge required to secure progress in their learning.
For our children who are not yet ready to access the full range of subject based learning or who have difficulty with transitions we have a Specialist Provision which is designed to meet their needs.
As an integral part of our offer we have a specially developed independent living programme to support our learners as they develop toward their adulthood.
